Rogers to charge Plan-less subscribers 15¢/incoming SMS
Those of you on Rogers who haven’t signed up for a messaging plan yet and have been enjoying receiving free incoming SMS will be disappointed with your carrier’s latest move.

Starting July 7th, all incoming SMS for those without a text messaging plan will be charged 15¢ per message. This is the same rate for outgoing messages. However, those on a messaging plan will still continue to enjoy free unlimited incoming SMS. Fido subscribers will also not be affected by this policy change by Rogers. Subscribers should receive billing statement inserts begining today informing them of this latest policy change. Granted that most subscribers nowadays are already on a messaging plan anyway, this latest move won’t probably affect the greater majority of Rogers’ clients.
However, if you’re one of the few Rogers subscribers out there who are still not on a messaging plan but frequently receives SMS, it would be to your advantage if sign-up for one today. Likewise, if you want to avail of their new Twitter SMS service, signing up for a messaging plan would be the most economical way to go about it.
