LG sells 29.82 Million phones in Q2 ‘09, 32% improvement from Q2 ‘08
LG brazenly released a statement not so long ago that they were gunning for the no. 2 spot in the mobile phone industry. We were a bit skeptical at first, but based on their recent sales reports, it seems that they’re well on their way to achieving this ambitious target.

First, we heard that their LG Cookie has already surpassed the 5 million mark. Now, their Q2 2009 figures have just made history for the company. LG managed to ship a total of 29.82 million phones for that period alone which is a whopping 32% improvement from the same time last year, the best performing quarter for the company since their entry into the mobile phone biz. Year-over-year growth is currently pegged at 7.8%, but with the vast improvement they’ve had so far, that number will definitely go up by the end of the year. There’s no question that the LG Cookie played a big role in their success, and if they continue to stick to the same game plan of providing affordable yet quality phones to consumers, we’re pretty sure LG will continue to reap the same rewards in the succeeding quarters to come.
We’ve yet to hear how Samsung is doing, but taking a cue at how consistent their performance was last year, they probably have positive growth on their side as well albeit not being as impressive as LG’s.
