Ban on Handheld Device use while Driving in Ontario begins on October 26th
If you’re in the habit of driving with just one hand on the steering wheel and the other one fiddling around with your mobile phone, Nokia and we would just like to remind you that Ontario will implement its ban on the use of handheld devices while driving beginning on Monday, October 26th.
There’s no question that driving and texting or calling has been a cause for accidents, but it’s just only recently that legislature had been passed to address this issue. Drivers caught violating this law will be fined up to $500. However, there is a work around for this if you wish to continue to use your mobile phone while driving. Provided that you use your mobile phone in tandem with a hands-free kit or Bluetooth headset and keep both your hands solely devoted to driving, this ban will not apply to you.
Of course, this does very little to help those who text and drive, but hey, if it’s really an important message, I doubt that people will relay it via SMS instead of calling.
Ontario ban on use of hand-held devices while driving begins Today
Nokia original accessories help keep hands free and eyes on the roadTORONTO, Oct. 21 /CNW/ – On October 26th, Ontario’s ban on the use of hand-held communication and entertainment devices will come into effect. The new law will make it illegal for drivers to text, type, dial or email using hand-held devices while operating a vehicle.
Many Ontarians have become accustomed to talking on their mobile devices on-the-road, but this is now a bad habit they will have to break. There are mobile devices options and wireless accessories that offer hands-free modes and speaker commands that would allow drivers to safely use their hand-held devices without distracting them from driving.
Nokia is the leader in Bluetooth headsets with the highest market share globally.
If you’d like to speak with Richard Lee of Nokia Canada about the implications of the ban or Nokia’s hands free devices, please let me know.
