Bell implements $5/month no-contract fee for Atlantic clients
Bell’s been churning out one good news after another. First, it was the announcement that their new HSPA network is good to go beginning next month. Second was the big reveal that they will indeed offer up both the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3G S to their devoted subscribes. So it saddens us to hear this latest bit of news that goes against this trend.

According to Mobile Ninjas, Bell has begun charging clients last October 9 who are no longer on-contract $5 per month. Yup, that’s right. There’s now a monthly off-contract fee the Atlantic-based subscirbers meaning those residing in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland. This may not have any effect on the greater part of Canada, but let’s face it, there’s really nothing holding them back from implementing this on a national level. Signing up on any contract will spare clients from this no-contract fee, but then again, you’ll be tied down for at least another whole new year of monthly charges.
We understand that, at the end of the day, this is still a business and they need to earn from it. Be that as it may, this new off-contract monthly fee by Bell is just a little bit too dubious in my opinion. How about you guys? Do you think they’re more than justified to charge off-contract clients $5/month?
