HTC working on Android 2.0 Eclair Update for the HTC Hero

Are you planning to get an HTC Hero phone soon but a little hesitant due to its now outdate Android 1.6 OS? Well, here’s some good news for you. HTC has announced via Twitter that they will indeed be releasing an Android 2.0 Eclair update for the Hero sometime in the near future.

They didn’t go as far as to mention a specific date when it’ll roll out, but they did, however, detail that they’re currently tweaking their Sense UI for the Google’s latest Android OS.

The rumors are true! Hero will be getting an Eclair update. We ask for your patience as we update Sense for the fancy new Android OS.

It’s also not clear if a similar update for the aging HTC Dream and Magic will be released, but given that the HTC Hero runs on the same processor as its predecessors, we don’t see any reason why it can’t be done.
