Microsoft recovers lost Sidekick data, Outage maybe over soon for T-Mobile
Microsoft’s recent mess up concerning the Sidekick outage with T-Mobile has been one of the hottest topics both online and offline, but from the looks of it, services will slowly be returning to regular programing soon.

Corporate Vice President for Premium Mobile Experience of Microsoft Roz Ho has, in fact, issued a statement apologizing for the mishap and announced that they have recovered “most, if not all, customer data for those Sidekick customers whose data was affected by the recent outage.” A system failure in the core database and back-up system has been blamed for the outage and data loss, but one can’t help question at how things are being run on the back-end side of things. Couldn’t the outage have been prevented? Were they aware of this problem long before it every happened, but chose not to do anything about it? We’ll probably never know the answer to these questions, but they do, however, assure us that they’ve made the necessary change3s to improve the system. You can read the full announcement here.
As for those who still haven’t recovered their data after two weeks, you’ll be eligible to receive a $100 gift card as a consolation for the inconvenience. This is apart from the 1 month free data service that has already been issued to affected Sidekick customers. Sure, these probably won’t be enough for some of the affected subscribers, but at least T-Mobile is doing something to make-up for Microsoft’s blunder.
