New iPhone 3G S bootrom shuts the door on Jailbreaking
The , Geohot, and other similar groups have had a field day jailbreaking one iPhone firmware after another largely thanks to Apple’s inaction to address the 24kpwn exploit in its bootrom.
However, those days are now over as pulled a fast one on the group by shipping new units loaded with a completely new bootrom. Confirmed by Dev Team member MuscleNerd, iBoot-359.3.2 is the new bootrom that is resistant to any of the jailbreaks available at this time including the recently released . Of course, this doesn’t mean there won’t be an appropriate jailbreak released down the road. In fact, we’re pretty sure they’re already hard at work trying to crack this baby wide open as we speak.
Nonetheless, this surely won’t bold well for those unfortunate jailbreakers out there who unwittingly picked one of these babies up from the store since there’s no clear indication as to when a jailbreak will be released for this new breed of iPhones.
