Dell Aero Android phone gets FCC approved

The last time we saw a Dell mobile phone drop by the offices of the FCC was way back in November with the Mini 3iX. That particular phone hasn’t hit the market yet, and it might never will as a result of this newly approved Dell Android phone by the FCC.

It still looks every bit the same as the Dell Mini 3iX, but now comes by a different name, Aero. The Dell Aero also features WiFi (b/g) and Bluetooth connectivity both of which were sorely missing in the previous model that was approved by the FCC. AT&T 3G band support is still there which means that this baby should also work with local carriers like Rogers, Telus, and Bell though there’s no info yet if it will be released in Canada. Other features of the Dell Aero include a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen, 5-megapixel AF camera (up from the Dell Mini 3’s 3-megapixel camera) complete with flash, 624MHz Marvell processor, A-GPS, Android 1.5 as its OS, and will ship with a 2GB microSD card as part of the standard package.

There are no confirmed details yet on when the Dell Aero will exactly be released in the US, but it looks like it’s a lock for a Q2 launch. If this is true, we should expect an official announcement to be made in the next couple of weeks or so.
