Samsung i5800/i5801 Android 2.1 phone caught on Video

Samsung is one of the most activate supporters of Android given that they’re probably second to HTC as the phone maker that has the most number of Android devices in the market today. Now, we have a preview of one of their upcoming Android handsets, the Samsung i5800/i5801. It runs on Android 2.1, and comes with 3G connectivity complemented by WiFi.

Personally, I’m still on the fence with regards to the authenticity of the leaked BlackBerry Bold 9800 slider , but as far as RIM ’s newest clamshell phone, the BlackBerry 9670, is concerned, I’ve no doubt that it’s real especially with this hands-on video that has just recently surfaced. Brought to us by Cellular Guru , what we have here is to 8 minutes of the BlackBerry 9670 live in action. Thanks to this video, we can confirm that the BlackBerry 9670 indeed comes with 5-megapixel camera complete with flash, an external display on the lid, an optical trackpad like most of its contemporaries, and runs on the new BlackBerry OS 6.0

Smartphone market continues to grow, iPhone sales up by 131% for Q1 2010

Back in 2007, a lot of people were skeptical in Apple’s entry into the mobile industry with the launch of the very first iPhone . Fast forward to the present, no one now questions the marketability of the iPhone which, according to the latest IDC report, has in fact increased its sales by a whopping 131% compared to the same period last year. Putting things into perspective, however, that growth is still not good enough to put Apple within striking distance of industry leader Nokia , but it’s still impressive nonetheless

Virgin Mobile confirms BlackBerry Pearl 3G

The new BlackBerry Pearl 3G is already confirmed on Rogers, Telus , and Bell, and now, you can also add Virgin Mobile to that growing list as well. They’ve announced this via Twitter though they didn’t go as far as to reveal a launch date or pricing for this new Pearl series smartphone. Telus, for their part, has officially announced they’ll be selling it for just $29.99 on a 3-year contract while Bell is currently rumored to have theirs priced at $29.95 on the same contract term basis ($329.95 no-contract) and is expected to be released on May 13

iPhone OS 4.0 beta 3 (briefly) becomes Available; Loaded with New Features

iPhone OS 4.0 beta 3 briefly went live yesterday, but before most developers could get their hands on this new version, Apple surprisingly pulled it off their servers. We’re not sure what prompted them to make such a drastic move, but fortunately, the folks over at BGR got their hands on one and they’re gladly sharing with the rest of the iPhone-crazed community what are some of the new goodies beta 3 comes loaded with.

BlackBerry 9800 slider gets leaked, Loaded with BlackBerry OS 6.0

This still isn’t confirmed yet, but with the vast number of leaked snapshots and rumors that have surface in the last couple of months centering on this particular device, we’re starting to believe that it is. Shown here are some hands-on pics of what’s being purported as RIM ’s first slider phone, the BlackBerry 9800. Admittedly, these aren’t the best of leaked images, but we can clearly see the slide-out QWERTY keypad and optical touchpad that’s one of the new mainstay features in today’s current crop of BlackBerry smartphones

BlackBerry Bold 9650 gets FCC approved, ETA May 23 on Sprint

Here’s some good news for you RIM aficionados out there looking forward to the latest Bold smartphone, the 9650 (formerly referred to as the Essex /Tour 2). It’s gotten approved by the FCC , and is actually scheduled to be released on the 23rd of this month on Sprint with possibility of Verizon following suit thereafter. No confirmation yet if it will be released in Canada, but given that most of the major carriers are now offering the Bold 9700 , it won’t exactly be surprising if this too gets released in the country

BlackBerry OS 6 a Huge Leap Forward

The much touted BlackBerry OS 6 is coming, and it’s bringing a wheelbarrel full of improvements. New features include multiple home screens, the ability to use the trackball/trackpad to effortlessly scroll over to apps that previously required numerous keystrokes, a brand new web browser with tabbing ability, an enhanced BlackBerry menu options list, and an overhauled media player and tab application switcher
